History
The Street Glide first entered the scene in 1984. This touring bike was called the 1985 MY Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide. Designed for long-distance riding, it was powered by an air-cooled four-stroke 1337 cc V-Twin engine. It also offered a 5-speed transmission and 50 hp. Plenty of features were designed to make this motorcycle stand out, including fork-mounted fairing, a passenger backrest, a rear trunk, and lockable saddlebags.

Due to the success of the Street Glide, Harley-Davidson integrated it into its regular lineup. But little changed on this touring motorcycle until the 2000 MY Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide. It offered a 1449 cc engine and 67 hp output. Since then, this model gets a large upgrade about every five years.

Today's Models

The Street Glide is a versatile touring motorcycle with plenty to offer. The machine itself is an ideal weight for long-distance riding. It's light enough that you won't be wrestling the touring bike to stay in control but heavy enough that it keeps you stable on winding roads. Many riders use the Street Glide for road trips or to get to work each day. This touring bike can handle it all!

The Street Glide comes with many features to boost your riding experience. Hand-adjustable rear shocks and responsive suspension improve performance. The Reflex™ linked Brembo® brakes with optional ABS keep you safe on the road even at high speeds. The BOOM!™ Box 4.3 Infotainment system provides Bluetooth hookups and a USB port for easy playing of your favorite songs.

As you would expect from Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the Street Glide is easy to customize. Common upgrades include changing the seat, adding a detachable sissy bar, and the Screamin' Eagle® Street Cannon Slip-On Mufflers.
