H.O.G.® History
The Harley Owners Group was formed in 1983 in part to foster the building of stronger relationships between H-D® and their customers. While this certainly helps business, it does so by focusing on community-building efforts and strengthening the feedback between customer and manufacturer. The founding principles were a focus on the iconic status of the American manufacturer while also boasting the twin ideals of freedom and individuality within the structure of an owners group. This has led to success both for Harley and their riders!
H.O.G.® Benefits
Let’s get started with the main benefits of H.O.G.® membership. First up, every H.O.G.® member is automatically enrolled in their standard Roadside Assistance package, which covers a single motorcycle for a single roadside emergency. There are lots of affordable upgrades for those who find the service enticing!
Motorcycle rallies aren’t for every rider, but as a member of H.O.G.®, you’ll get an invite to everything from your local chapter’s rides to pin stops and provincial or even national rallies. These events are all about the ride there, the ride home, and everything that happens in between.
You also gain complimentary admission to the Harley-Davidson Museum®, which isn’t your grandpa’s house of history. This museum is all about fun and freedom for every member of the family. Types of Membership
The Harley lifestyle is all about the freedom of individual expression. That means there’s not just one type of H.O.G.® member, and there’s no one type of membership. Of course there’s the full membership option, which is built for the solo rider. This package lasts a year and comes free with any purchase of a new, unregistered H-D® motorcycle!
Associate memberships are for passengers or family members of an active full member. This package gives associate members some, but not all, of the full member benefits, including the H.O.G.® card, pin and patch, and access to events and local bike chapters. All you need is to be sponsored by a full member and you’re in!
For those ready for the ultimate commitment, there’s the lifetime membership option, which grants either full or associate members all the normal benefits plus a coveted life member patch and pin — and the bragging rights that go with it!
